Course topics:

Coding and Billing - Learn proper and ethical coding through demonstrations using actual claims, radiographs and intra-oral photographs. Improve claims acceptance by insurance carriers and avoid legal and licensure issues that result from fraudulent or inaccurate claims submission.

Delegable Duties - Discover which duties, under North Carolina rules, can be delegated to a dental hygienist, dental assistant or other auxiliary. Delegable duties not only vary by state, but by practice setting. Find out what levels of supervision are required.

Ethics and Professional Code of Conduct - Understand, using real life scenarios, the five principles that comprise the ADA Code of Ethics. Also learn the regulations associated with communications and advertising dental services.

Record Keeping and Informed Consent - Master what patient information must be maintained, applicable laws relative to confidentiality, retention and furnishing records. Also discover what info must be shared with a patient for appropriate informed consent.

Professional boundaries - Understand the definition of a professional boundary. Identify behaviors and actions that constitute a boundary violation and learn the legal and ethical ramifications of crossing the line.
