NC Dental Society's First District Midwinter Annual Meeting

Join us Friday evening for a social hour and Saturday for a full day of continuing education, covering dental sleep medicine, opioids and coding. This event is designed for dentists and team members.

9:00 a.m. - 12:00 p.m. - Beyond the Basics: Implementing Dental Sleep Medicine in Your Practice, with Dr. Greg Essick. 

This session will:

  • Review practice parameters and protocol for oral appliance therapy
  • Describe the physician referral process and establishing medical necessity of treatment
  • Describe how to select an oral appliance for your patients
  • Describe calibrating the jaw advancement to optimize efficacy of an oral appliance
  • Describe financial models for the practice of Dental Sleep Medicine  (DSM) and the basics of medical insurance coverage of oral appliance therapy.

1:15 p.m. - Avoiding Coding Errors - Dental Coding, with Dr. Charles Blair. Don't miss this important lecture which will help you avoid coding mistakes and ensure proper reporting. You'll also learn to identify and implement new strategies for increasing reimbursement.

4:15 p.m. - Safe Opioid Prescribing - What Dental Healthcare Professionals Need to Know - Dr. Blake Fagan

Learn about the epidemic in our region and steps to take to perform safe opioid prescribing. Hear about safer alternatives for treating dental pain. You'll also learn to access the CSRS as needed for dental patients in acute pain and ways to manage patients with chronic pain on opioids who present with acute dental pain.

This program satisfies the requirement for NC dentists license renewal.
